Author Guidelines

Instructions for preparation and submission of the manuscripts

The current instructions are developed according to «Standard requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals», which were created by International International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.

Every manuscript should be accompanied by an official application letter from the organization where the work was done.

The data presented in the manuscript are to be original. Manuscripts published in or sent for publication to any other publisher house earlier are not admitted for publication in the Journal.

The manuscript should be submitted to publisher in typed version in 2 copies (the article should be typed on one side of the paper and signed by all manuscript’s authors) and in digital copy on CD-R (RW), DVD-R (RW), USB-flash or by e-mail (in the latter case the materials submitted to the publisher should be accompanied by the hardcopy of the sent letter). The hardcopy of the manuscript including illustrations submitted to the editorial board should be quite identical to the digital copy. The media are not returned to author.

The manuscripts should be typewritten in text editor (MS Word 97/2000/XP/2007) with «.doc» extension, size of 12 pt 1.5-spaced, preferably Times New Roman Cyr, with no word wrap. Margins’ sizes are to be: top and bottom – 20 mm, left – 30 mm, right – 20 mm. The recommended length of manuscript including tables and references- within 12 typewritten pages of A4 size. All pages should be numbered (page numbering should start from the title page).

An original manuscript should contain the following components: Title page, Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion (the two latter may be combined), References according with the common international requirements.

The title page should contain the manuscript title, names and initials of each author with name of the institution (if the author performed the study in several institutions, indication of addresses of all institutions is preferred), city and country; enquiries for conversation of readers with the author for free access publication (address with postcode, telephone, e-mail address); abstract of 150-300 words; key words in Russian. Surname and initials of the author(s), title of the manuscript, abstract and key words should be repeated in English.

Surname, name and middle name, telephone number and e-mail address of the corresponding author who will responsible for contacts with editorial board should be indicated.

Common abbreviations should be used in the text. Abbreviations should be avoided in the title of the manuscript. The entire term for which the abbreviation is used should be transcribed in the text for its first mention (the transcription is not necessary for measurement units and symbols).

For results of statistical data analysis the indication of statistics software and its version, name of statistical methods, providing descriptive statistics and exact p-levels for testing of statistical hypothesis are obligatory. Confidence intervals should be estimated for main results of the study.

Measurement units for physical quantities, hematological, biochemical and other measurements used in medicine are given in units of international metric system (System International – SI). For different compounds the terms of IUPAC should be used.

Tables, figures and text should complements each other rather than duplicate.

Illustrations (photos, figures, schemes, diagrams) are represented in two copies, each one on the separate page. TIFF, EPS, CDR or JPEG with compression ratio as much as 8 and resolution of 300 dpi for size as much as 6x9 cm are acceptable for typography of the journal. For figures made in CorelDraw, the fonts should be changed in curves. CorelDraw 9.0 with fonts in curves is universal. Photos should be contrast, figures – blur-free. Microphoto legends should contain the magnification and dye. The number, surname of the first author of the manuscript and the title of manuscript are placed on the back of each figure. Figure legends should be on the separated blank (also 2 copies) containing the manuscript’s title and surname of the author.

The tables should be numbered according to their order of citation in the text. Each table should be provided with brief caption and citation in the text. The capitations of columns should correspond strictly to its content. Abbreviations used in the table should be explained in a footnote.

References should be listed at the end of the manuscript and designed according to State Standard Р 7.0.5-2008, in the text only the number of reference should be placed in square brackets. References are numbered consecutively as they are cited in the text. References to unpublished articles must not be listed. References to theses, abstracts, conferences’ materials, synopsis of thesis are not admitted. The author is responsible for the accuracy of references. It is not recommended to list more than 30 references (except for review articles).

All manuscripts submitted to the editorial board undergo the multistep review, comments of reviewers are send to author indication of names of reviewers. The editorial board make a decision about publication (or rejection) of the manuscript after receiving reviews and responses of the author.

The editorial board reserves the right to reject the manuscript with sending reasonable rejection in written form to author. Rejected manuscripts are not returned to the authors. The order for manuscripts’ publication is determined according to editorial plan of journal issue.

The editorial board reserves the right to cut and revise the article. Minor stylistic, nomenclature or formal revise is performed without author’s approval. If the article is revised by the author during the processing before publication, the submission date is the date of submission of the final text.

We notice authors that abstract and key words are published in English and released in Russian and international databases.

Note. The submitting of the manuscript for publication in the journal means agreement of author(s) with published requirements.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.
  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL. 

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one line spacing, font Times New Roman, 12 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).
  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us." 

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.
