The main direction of scientific work of professor Grin M.A. is associated with development of high-efficiency photosensitizers on basis of natural chlorophylls for PDT of cancer and antibacterial PDT. Specifically, professor Grin M.A. has developed the methods of directed chemical modification of chlorophyll а and bacteriochlorophyll а to improve its photophysical characteristics, synthesis of conjugates with compounds of other classes and to produce photosensitizers with intense absorption in the near-infrared region for binary methods of treatment in oncology.
