Romanko Yu.S., Dr. Sci. (Med.), рrofessor of the department of Oncology, radiotherapy and plastic surgery named after L.L. Lyovshina in I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (Moscow, Russia).

In 1997 with an active and direct involvement of professor Yu.S. Romanko the single, with no counterparts in Russia, the department of laser and photodynamic therapy consisted of experimental laboratory and clinical department was organized in Medical Research Radiological Centre of RAMS (MRRC of RAMS). As a principal researcher Yu.S. Romanko headed a new scientific field in MRRC of RAMS. With his active participation post-graduate education for PDT was started and is carried out up to date. Later professor Yu.S. Romanko organized and opened a medical institute merged into Obninsk state technical university for atomic energy, performing training of physicians for degree in «General Medicine», on its basis he and Nikon corporation organized the international laboratory of confocal microscopy, the purpose was to conduct works in the field of experimental and clinical PDT. On the basis of the laboratory professor Yu.S. Romanko organized and performed teaching of photobiology with course of photodynamic therapy for students.

Professor Yu.S. Romanko has more than 150 scientific works, is a co-author of 4 monographies, 2 study guides for PDT. He actively performs training of medical and academic staff in PDT, 5 Cand. Sci. (Med) have been trained.

He is a grant winner of Regional public Foundation for Assistance to domestic medicine in 2006 for experimental and clinical works in the field of PDT.
