Filonenko Elena Vyacheslavovna graduated from the department of general medicine in Russian National Research Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov with «general medicine» specialty in 1987. After graduation from the institute and up to the present day she works in P.A. Herzen Moscow Cancer Research Institute, having a position in turn as junior research fellow, research fellow, senior fellow, since 2008 as the chief of department of the rehabilitaton. At the same time Filonenko E.V. is the head of the Centre of laser and photodynamic diagnosis and therapy of tumors of Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, merged into P.A. Herzen MCRI.
In 1997 Filonenko E.V. passed PhD defense on the subject of «Endoscopic photodynamic therapy for early bronchial, esophageal and gastric cancer using photosensitizer photogem», in 2006 - Doctor of medical sciences defense on the subject of «Fluorescence diagnosis and photodynamic therapy in oncology». In 2012 the professor degree was assigned in specialty of oncology (14.01.12).
Filonenko E.V. is one of the founders of photodynamic therapy (PDT) and fluorescence diagnosis (FD) in Russia, chairman of the board of National photodynamic association, a Russian Federation Government prizewinner in science and engineering for the project «Development and adoption of medical technologies of FD and PDT into oncologic practice».
Filonenko E.V. is a principle investigator on more than 10 clinical trial protocols of original Russian photosensitizers (photosens, alasens, hexasens, radachlorine) approved by Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. In the Centre hosted by Filonenko E.V. more than 1000 sessions of FD and PDT are performed annually in patients with malignant tumors of different localization. Under the supervision of Filonenko E.V. a set of original techniques of PD and PDT, provide the basis for 10 medical technologies of photodynamic diagnosis and therapy of tumors, was developed.
Filonenko E.V. is an author of 315 publications including 95 articles, 5 chapters in monographs, 25 patents, 6 guidelines for physicians, 3 method guidelines and 10 medical technologies. In 2012 under the editorship of Filonenko E.V. the monograph «Fluorescence diagnosis and photodynamic therapy in clinical oncology» was published. Under her scientific supervision 14 researches for PhD for photodynamic therapy and fluorescence diagnosis were defensed.
Filonenko E.V. is a definitive speaker at meetings, congresses, conferences and workshops in Russia and abroad. In 2011 the project «Photosens PDT at the treatment of virus-associated precancer and non-invasive cervical cancer», which was represented on the 13th IPA World Congress by Filonenko E.V. as one of the authors, received a prize as the best poster report.
Filonenko E.V. is engaged in the instructorship, since 2008 she has been assistant professor at the department of oncology of the Faculty of Postgraduate Professional Training of Physicians in the Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy and at the department of endoscopy in Russian medical academy of postdegree education and since 2014 – the curriculum director at the department of oncology and radiotherapy of the Institute of Postgraduate Professional Training in The First Sechenov Moscow State Medical University.
